HOUSTON…Midtown is home to the 13th annual Puerto Rican and Cuban Festival (PRC Festival), celebrating Puerto Rican, Cuban and Dominican cultures through art, music, dance and food. Scheduled for Saturday, November 2 from noon to 10 p.m. at Midtown Park, 2811 Travis St., more than 20,000 revelers are expected to attend this year’s festivities.

Houston’s largest event to celebrate Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Reggaeton dances and Spanish Caribbean cultures, PRC Festival features international artists including Puerto Rican salsa singer Charlie Aponte from El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico, Ismael Miranda from Fania All Stars and Cuban singer and percussionist Yulien Oviedo. Over 80 Heritage dancers and musical groups also perform throughout the day-long celebration.

Along with sounds of the islands, guests will enjoy authentic Spanish Caribbean cuisine such as Lechón Asado, Mofóngo and Arroz con Gandules, to name a few, from 12 different Food Trucks. The family-friendly event includes a kids’ zone complete with art, soccer, basketball, bounce house and other activities.

“PRC Festival is a celebration of our cultures, as well as our assimilation and contributions to the culture of the United States,” said Javier Ferrer, producer and president of PRC Festival.

“Known as the most diverse city in America, Houston and its citizens embrace all cultures. We invite everyone out for a first-hand experience of the sights, sounds and flavors of the Spanish Caribbean islands.”

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate with proceeds benefiting Texas United for Puerto Rico and Casa Cuba. Kids ages 8 and under admission is free. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit prcfestival.com.

ABOUT THE PRC FESTIVAL

Our mission is to disseminate the Puerto Rican, Cuban and Dominican cultures within the City of Houston and its surrounding communities. We want to enlighten and educate the audience through dance, art, music and food. Our event supports and promotes other ethnic organizations and their missions by providing a venue for unification for our Spanish Caribbean citizens and the general market. Most importantly, the PRC Festival empowers our youth to become accomplished, self-directed and collaborative citizens who boldly contribute to an increasingly complex and evolving world by engaging in leadership roles, relevant experiences and building positive relationships while embracing the uniqueness of each individual.
